82% of People Surveyed In Bulwell Want an Entertainment Centre
I’m a strong supporter of the “We Love Bulwell’” campaign which was a creation of the Mary Portas national review of how local communities can support their High Street and Town Centre. The Town Team have been very active in gathering support and ideas.
So, armed with clip boards and smiles my supporters have been questioning shoppers on Saturdays in the every busy Market Place. We had three simple questions with three answers offered in each case. In terms of visit patterns and what people liked most about the town were mostly the friendly people, the market, the free parking.
It was the answer to the second question of “If you were given a choice which of the following three would you prefer to see in Bulwell?” The overwhelming winner, with 82% was the option to have an Entertainment Centre close by with a cinema, bowling alley and cafés/restaurants, beating a history museum and outdoor skate boarding park both scoring 9%.
Maybe they’re right. Feltham in West London was transformed by their Frank & Benny and Bowling Alley complex. So maybe Bulwell could benefit too. It would undoubtedly bring prosperity into the area and fill the evening gap for families wanting to spend more time together. If I’m elected on May 7th I will certainly work with any interested business leaders to locate a site and support the project.
